Incredible setting, helpful and great staff.
Welcome base for 2 nights. A good choice of goodies for breakfast. Cosy triple room with private ac. Location very close to the river and the river onsen, restaurants and the mountains in a mystical way. Also, very close to bus stop.

What an amazing experience! The location near the river and the bus stop was perfect for our hiking adventures. The owner was super friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. I can’t rave enough about the delicious dinner and breakfast we had; honestly, some of the best food we enjoyed throughout our trip! Plus, relaxing in the outdoor onsen with beautiful nature all around was such a treat!
That said, the shared bathrooms might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and the rooms felt a bit worn. Also, it was a bit of work to dig our own onsen, but the small hot tub by the river was a fantastic alternative! Overall, these little things didn't take away from the incredible experience we had.

minshuku sumiya was immaculate and quiet - located right on the river next to a public outdoor onsen. our room had a rooftop patio overlooking the river. dinner and breakfast were delicious home-cooked meals by our warm and kind host - kohei. he helped us get used to the onsen and even treated us to yuzu made by his friend. his hospitality was exceptional - taking us to see fireflies and driving us to the hiking trail when the bus couldn't reach it.
Would recommend.

Its particularly good, remote location was a plus. our stay at Minshuku Sumiya was wonderful. The room was bright and had enough space, and the private AC made it very comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the remote location was a big advantage for us. Plus, the property being located right next to a bus stop was really convenient. We definitely recommend this place for a great retreat.
